Ingunn Birkeland SS12

Ingunn Birkeland held an intimate vernissage to show her new shoe line, at Oslo Fashion Week on Thursday.

The designer might be most known for her exquisite dresses, but had now gone over to focus on shoes and purses, for SS12.

The footwear was elegant, delicate and in appetizing colours and fabrics, and Birkeland showed her talent for design and use of plait techniques and materials.

Most of the shoes are produced in Spain and will be sold in different stores in Norway, one of them being Cecilie Melli. Others were hand made by the designer herself, and are made-to-order.

Especially impressive was the pattern created by Birkeland herself, which is plaited by hand using a multitude of colours.

The designer is by many described as a Norwegian Jimmy Choo with a Paul Smith pattern mastery, and she managed to get us all interested in her continuing career in the fashion industry.
