Line of Oslo: Kind country-chic
Line of Oslo brought a winter fairytale to Samfunnssalen with figure skating models on the icy catwalk on February 8th. A snow machine recreated the feeling of being outdoors.
The AW 2012 collection «Nordic Hope» was created out from the idea of Norwegian frost. The clothes can be described as hippie-chic country casual.
- I had an idea of a winterland with the Nordic light, and it was natural for me to think of ice, she said about her creative catwalk setting.
Line Jeanette Warner demonstrated a broad variety of prints, fabrics and style combinations. Dungarees and broad 70´s hats, blouses with animal prints and clean, single colored cardigans and dresses. Handbags with ethnical color print with long fringes represented the rural and native expression. Some of the skaters wore giant Native American feather headpieces. Text prints like «Hope», «Love me» and «Love me as I am» at the front of sweaters and ponchos, are part of a vivid message from the designer:
- The idea is kindness. Everyone should feel good every day. You get further ahead in life by being kind, Line said before the show.

The designer was, like everyone else, very affected by the terror of the 22nd of July in 2011. She cried a lot, and was close to call off her OFW show in August. The horrifying events made her think about kind and affectionate feelings, thus creating a collection built on love and hope.
- I think we might need hope after what has happened. We should appreciate life and make the best of it, instead of fighting. It´s so easy to be nice, Line continues.
Line wants every girl and woman to wear her clothes. She says it´s easy to dress up and down – depending on the occasion. She uses cashmere, wool, 100 percent jersey and cotton, satin, silk and organic wool. Squares, stripes and stars are among the many prints. The main color scheme is black and white, jeansblue, brown, créme, grey melert and a small dash of yellow and neon pink. All the different prints, colors and fabrics make Line of Oslo a commercial and versatile brand, suitable for women at nearly all ages.
