The male collection was named “Neo legacy” and its female counterpart was called “Transitions”, pointing towards its venture onto the runway; although the brand was created in 1991, this was actually Samsøe & Samsøe’s first catwalk show ever.
Now 21 years later the brand showed their AW 12/13 collection to Norway’s fashion savants, to a highly positive reception.
The collection kept true to their credo of freedom and simplicity, but also featured hybrid jackets, skillfully detailed knitwear and high-quality denim.
Skinny jeans – often lacquered – continued to be the trend for both sexes, often topped with loose-fitting tops. The collection could also be called slightly androgynous, as many of the garments appealed to both genders.
The palette was mostly earthly with subdued colours. Tones of grey, ash and black constituted the standard, but we also had splashes of colour such as the orange scarf over the grey wool dress, the male green quilted jacket, and a pair of mustard trousers.
With their catwalk debut at Oslo Fashion Week, Samsøe & Samsøe managed to prove that Scandinavian simplicity can be sexy, slick and severely sought after.
